Spring

We met in the council chamber and welcomed each other in the normal fashion. Branwen and Jari reported on their ritual, which they both created in winter to call upon the Anu to cleanse the corrupted stones at Bannerdown. I did question whether the unnamed house could corrupt the stones again, but apparently, when working with the ancient powers, things are not as deterministic as with hermetic magic, so they would not. Terentius encouraged the pair to cast it as soon as possible to thwart the unnamed house's plan, and both agreed to do it as soon as possible. Branwen said she would go and visit Morgana le Fay this season to finish her scholarship on the rune carving in trees before joining Jari in casting the cleansing ritual. Jari agreed, as he would need three moons to purify the Vis he had. Jari told the tale of when the initial cleansing took place, the hunting stone near the Bannerdown stone gave them the ability to follow the footsteps of the unnamed house's necromancer, which they followed to a river, where he must have boarded a barge. Jari and I both took eight pawns of vis, and the rest of the Magi decided that they had enough vis and would leave the rest in the covenant stores for the forthcoming tempest. There was no stipend of coin as we had to finance the new buildings, and indeed all bar myself put fifteen hundred pennies each into the reserves to aid this effort. Jari and Naveus both said they would study Vim, Branwen had stated her intentions, Terentius studied from Corporem Vis, Theoclea worked on the magics taught by Merddyn, and I extracted Vim vis as Marcellus’ potion had failed again.

Private Journal

I went to Gloucester College and met my dark master. He informed me that Argentius would be the next great oak to fall to our plan. He would be pursued by hounds, which to me sounded like a witch would sacrifice themselves to the wild hunt at Avebury to pursue the thrice-cursed Primus. This news pleased me greatly. I explained the workings of the unnamed house at Bannerdown, and I think it gave him an idea. He said I would replace the Necromancer of green fire as the leader of the unnamed house, as he followed a rival lord of hell, then I could rule the enclave my sodalis prepared after dealing with them. I thought for a second about killing Jari and Terentius. My master said I could delegate their deaths if slaying my old allies would be saddening to me, so I agreed to his plans, as what happens after my revenge is totally up to him, to whom I am pledged.

At dinner late in the season, Jari remarked that the Ritual at Bannerdown was complete and the work of the unnamed house was undone.
